Undone

On the first day
She was full of longing
And all the sweet nectar
Remained right there with her
For hours
For days
Spilling down her chin
As silent mantras
Carrying her
Further than her feet ever could reach
Right back to a feeble child’s embraces

On the second day
Her voice became the bass
The angelic chorus
That opened her lungs
To inhale the sea
Expand her chest
Against the constraints of the world
Inviting it to infuse into her blood
Particle by particle
Impelling thermodynamics
Germinating belonging
Becoming one
To breathe herself
All the way home

On the third day
Her limbs were stiff
Her lids were heavy
But all they guarded
Was peace
