Pearls
Today
I adorn myself in pearls
In gold and lace
Tomorrow
In crystals and sandalwood
Every ounce of fat and fold
Once hoped to shame into non-existence
Forever
In all the love I sought from you
Right from my own palms
Who have untied the veil
Obscuring the fact
That my love is a prize
Of which I’ve been worthy
Long before precious rocks and metals
Held any value at all
